Frequently asked questions

Do you have live aboard moorings?

Yes, we have a limited number of residential moorings. As demand can sometimes exceed availability, please do contact us and we will be pleased to discuss your requirements.

Can I use my boat whenever I want?

Yes, the marina is open 365 days a year and you are free to come and go as you please. The office is open daily from 8.30-5.00 although we may reduce opening hours around Christmas and New Year.

What happens if it floods?

All of our moorings are designed to rise with the flood water. In the worst floods of 2007, all of our boats remained safe.

Do I need a license to drive my boat?

To cruise the River Severn or the canal system, a Canal & River Trust (CRT) license is needed, although it is often more economical to purchase short term permits. For the River Avon a license from the Avon Navigation Trust (ANT) is required.

Do I need a Boat Safety Certificate?

Answer- Yes All boats on inland waterways require a current BSC certificate for the protection of all waterway users. They need renewing every 4 years which involves an examination of the required safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, fuel lines, gas installations and electrical wiring. The cost of renewal is approximately £250 plus any work required to bring the boat up to standard.”

Can I carry out work on my boat in or out of the water?

A separate work area is provided free so that other berth holders wont be disturbed by noisy or messy work. Hard standing is available should the boat need to come out of the water, and this is provided free as part of your berthing contract. You only pay for the lift out and lift in.

Can I take my boat out of the water for the winter?

We have hard standing for around 25 boats and can lift boats weighing up to 6 tonnes.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, pets are welcome. A dog walking area is provided alongside Basin 1 where they can be let off the lead. Dogs must be kept on a lead anywhere else on site. Dog waste bins are also provided.
